As a lover of Chipotle, Barrio was a pretty solid restaurant for me. During the one trip, I actually went twice. The volume of food and the quality of it for the price is a really good deal so that was a big reason why I found myself going twice. The first time, my experience was really poor though… the first time I went, I sat at the bar and it was just a really negative experience. The bartender was very unpleasant and honestly, quite rude. I totally get that life happens and we all have rough days, but it was probably the most unpleasant server I’ve ever had. I honestly spent a lot of the night trying to figure out if I did something wrong? It was just highly uncomfortable. I figured I’d try going again but this time avoiding the bar and that was the way to go. My waitress (Molly) was awesome! Super friendly and provided great service. I want to give the first bartender grace but feels a bit hard to do so. Maybe just avoid the bar if you stop here.

Really cool place! Build your own tacos with a lot of cool options, and the margaritas were great. The pulled pork in my tacos was so juicy. I’d compare this place to Condado Tacos but a bit less corporate. Cool artwork on the walls. I’d recommend!

Trendy spot for tacos, well decorated with a friendly staff. The build your own ordering process is different, it felt more complex than necessary though. It also is a Tequila bar... yea!!!! Definitely worth a try. 😋

This was my first time to Barrio. My son and his girlfriend brought me here while I was visiting them for a couple days. We all built our own taco's but before that ordered the chips and salsa and house made queso. This was fantastic we polished both bowls and had a second bowl of salsa. Super good. We then received our tacos. There were so many options I can't remember everything I have put on it but by far my favorite what the mango salsa with beef topped with a smoky cheddar cheese. Oh man the smoky cheddar was so good. The staff were nice and always around if we needed anything and the prices were great. I will definitely be going there again. Thank you Barrio for a great memory for us. We will be back.

Barrio, located on Front Street in downtown Traverse City, is a Mexican restaurant with decorations that celebrate Día de Muertos. While the build-your-own ordering process is unique, it felt somewhat more complex than necessary, as order cards are required for all menu items, including appetizers. Although the food was tasty and served in generous portions, the attentiveness of the service could be improved. The restaurant offers ample seating options, including indoor, outdoor, and bar areas, and it is well-maintained. Overall, the dining experience felt similar to that of a good food truck, but within a trendy, decorated diner setting that includes a tequila bar. Will visit other Mexican restaurants in the area before returning.
